Improving Your Website Can Grow Your Business

We spend all day, every day working on, looking at and building websites.  And in an industry like the Web, that changes so fast, we are constantly having to learn, evaluate and analyze our services and our efficiency.  We have to constantly ask ourselves, “How can we give our clients more?”

If you are a business-owner with a website, you may have some of the same questions.  You may wonder “How can I get more out of my website?” or “How can I leverage my current website to help my business grow?”

If you’re not at least thinking like that once in while, you are overlooking your website and in the long-run, you’re hurting your business.  Please don’t do that (We know, if you’re reading this, you’re not).

 

You Can Always Improve Your Website

As a business owner, it is easy (but dangerous) to fall into the mindset that your website just got a face-lift or some maintenance or whatever and therefore it doesn’t need anymore attention for now.  That’s not true.  Technology is constantly changing.  Google is constantly updating their algorithms.  There is new information and new methods of sharing that info almost daily.

The best approach to your website is a regular scheduled time when you analyze your analytics, check your Google Search console and just generally look at your website’s performance.  You need to set benchmarks for performance and measure it against those.  And you can always be tweaking and improving your website.  Even just an hour a week, you could start with that.

 

Our Website is Evidence

You’ve heard the saying “Those who can, do.  Those who can’t, teach”.  Well here at OmniOnline, we’re constantly doing both!  In fact we have a whole list (including ourselves) of websites that belong to progressive, smart business-owners who take advantage of our expertise and skills in order to watch their websites for them.  We continually analyze, tweak, adjust and improve them on a weekly or monthly basis.

Let me show you just a little bit of the success we’ve seen with our own website, omnionline.net.
We relaunched our own website in the Fall of 2014 with a number of goals ( If you want to read more about it start here: https://omnionline.net/need-new-website-part-1/).  One of our website goals was better Google ranking (we call this SERP) We were sick of being listed on page 3 or 4 of Google for search terms (we call these keywords) that we thought we should be on page 1 for.  Another goal was increase traffic to our website. We weren’t seeing enough traffic to our site and really felt that if more people read about us and what we could do for them, they’d hire us to come alongside their business and help them out.

The following are Google analytics showing first, a comparison of our traffic from May to the end of the year for 2013 ( orange) and 2014 (blue).  Next is a comparison of our traffic from Jan to Dec for 2014 (orange) and 2015 (blue).  In both cases the blue shows the improvements in traffic stemming from improvements to our website, year over year from 2013 to 2015.

If that’s not enough for you, check out this table we made comparing where we ranked on Google for some keyword searches when we began our overhaul in 2014 to the Fall of 2015 comparatively.  Wow! These are awesome results.
